SonShine
Preschool has been serving our community by providing a safe
environment for children to learn and grow since 1997. Our classrooms
are kept small by design to ensure excellent communication between
students and teachers. SonShine Preschool is in affiliation with
Yorktown Assembly of God and completely staffed with faithful members of
the church. We have students from many different religious backgrounds,
and we welcome anyone one who would like to attend. While our
curriculum is faith-based, we do not teach doctrinal beliefs - we teach
about the love of God and how we should treat others the way God would
want us to treat them. We use a thematic approach in learning and some
recent examples include animal studies, community helpers, and holidays.
Your child will be exposed to a wide variety of educational experiences and will be learning constantly from
everything around them. We make it a priority to offer a balanced
schedule of play and learning time, as we know how important both of
these aspects are to children at this age. Furthermore, we feel that
this schedule helps the children acquire many new skills which will
assist in improving their self-confidence and social development. We
offer flexible schedules for both our three-year-old and four-year-old
classes. Three-year-olds can attend from one half day per week to five
full days per week, while our four-year-old program is created for, at
minimum, five half days to five full days per week. Our regular school
hours are 9am - 3pm and we offer early/late hours for an additional
fee.
We
are so blessed to have Mrs. Enid Sanchez as Preschool Director and 4
year old teacher. Mrs. Sanchez completed both her Bachelors and Master’s
Degrees in Early Childhood Education from City College of New York.
Mrs. Sanchez’s love for children of all ages cannot be matched. Mrs.
Sanchez has been a Kindergarten and Elementary School teacher for the
past 33 years for the New York City Department of Education until
deciding to join the SonShine PreSchool family.
