Outreach
Dear Church Family,
As we draw near to the end of 2024 and embrace the Christmas season, I am compelled to share with you the burden and vision that God has placed upon my heart for Yorktown Assembly of God in 2025. This year, our corporate 21-day fast, which will commence on January 6th and conclude on January 26th, holds a special significance. I urge each of you to read the provided copy of Jentezen Franklin's book on fasting to deepen your understanding of this powerful spiritual discipline. Our unity in prayer and fasting will be the foundation for the incredible things God has in store for us.
In my quiet moments with the Lord, He has impressed upon my heart the importance of OUTREACH for the coming year. Our community is in dire need of the love, hope, and salvation that can only come from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The events that have shaken our area have highlighted the desperation and darkness that surrounds us. The time is now for us to be the light that shines in the darkness, bringing hope and healing to those who are lost and hurting.
To facilitate this vision, I met with Pastor Lisa to develop a strategic plan that will align our church's focus and resources with God's calling. The Lord has revealed to me that we need to "stop everything" and come together as one body, unified in our efforts to serve the community. This means a shift in our approach and a commitment to work together like never before.
Starting in 2025, we will be consolidating our weekday adult ministries into one central gathering on Thursday evenings at 7pm. This change is not to diminish the value of our current ministries, but rather to enhance and empower them. Our goal is to equip and train each member of our church to be effective in reaching out to those in need, both within and outside our congregation.
We will be launching several new initiatives, including a dedicated Prayer Team, Altar Workers Team, and a revamped Greeters and Ushers Team. Additionally, Pastor Lisa is already working on creating innovative outreach programs that will allow us to engage with our community in meaningful ways.
But this vision requires more than just new programs and leaders; it requires the whole church to be actively involved. We need a strong foundation of servants ready to support the influx of souls that will come through our doors as a result of our outreach efforts. This means more help in the children's ministry, more media and sound team members, and more individuals willing to serve in various capacities.
During our 21-day fast, I encourage you to seek God's will for your role in this new season. Pray for guidance on how you can make an impact both within the church and beyond. Remember, true leadership begins with a willingness to serve. Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus, reaching out to those who are lost and hurting.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the work of the Lord. I am excited about what God has planned for us, and I am eager to see how each of you will answer the call to be difference-makers and legacy builders in the coming year.
In Christ's Service,
Pastor Foster
